1.4 tsi problems

Post by Shanerocco »

Just had to splash out £3500 on new engine parts and car only done 49k miles it's decusting new drive chain new Pistons new head gasket etc and vw won't do crap about it can safley say I won't be getting another after this one gonna keep it for a year then be rid. It's a shame really because I love the motor but it is unbelievable about what happens it's a joke.

Anyone else had the same problems?

Let me guess: this is a 60 plate or earlier? Good many such incidents have been reported.

Shanerocco,,

I'm sorry to read of your misfortune. Does it have franchise FSH? If so, you may be in a good position to get VW to contribute; it's not as if these sorts of engine issues on MY2010 and earlier 1.4 aren't unknown, across the VAG range (type "tsi 1.4 engine problems" into google). There's suspicion that it's a principle reason for the twin-charged engine having been dropped from the VAG range, though VAG claim it was dropped because it was expensive to produce, and that emission target could be now achieved with larger, less complex engines.

What you mean by fsh? I'm gonna write to vw UK and see if they are willing to pay back some of the money or I'm going to trading standards

Full service history, preferably all undertaken by franchise dealers. If you do have this then, as said, you should have a very good chance of getting vw to part compensate, depending on the exact nature of the problem and the depth of your research. If the car doesn't have full (vw) service history you'll be on very weak ground.
