My 2009 2.0 TSi had intermittent engine warning light that became more frequent. Local garage diagnosed it as the flaps in the inlet manifold sticking. I had the inlet manifold replaced and all seemed fine for 2 weeks.
Driving on the motorway without warning the the check engine light started to flash, the EPC light came on with white smoke/steam coming from the exhaust pipe and a strong smell of unburnt petrol. The garage diagnosed it as misfire on cyl 3 caused by faulty fuel injector. 8 days later (fuel injectors on back order) the car was returned to me. After less than 1 mile of sedate driving the same thing happened again, only this time the smoke was blue and no smell of unburnt petrol. The garage diagnosed this as injector failure on cyl 4 and recommended that I change all 3 remaining injectors.
Can anyone tell me if the injector failure could be caused by the previous work or am I just really unlucky? The garage is insisting (of course) that I am just unlucky at it is not connected to the work he has carried out.
Thanks
