Firstly you need to find out what unit you have installed. A, B, C etc.
Then you will know what disk you will need to update your firmware.
Mine is a 2009 Rocco with a RNS 510 C Unit. Luckily i have a mate who works at VW who was able to take my unit out, find the code on the back and then use the VW computer to see what CD i needed. It updated my firmware and SatNav all for free. VW will want to charge you alot of money just to update it.
You can get it online but i've read you could block your RNS 510 and never be able to access it again.
Hope this helps. Any questions just ask.

Mental isn't it mate!!! You would think they wouls charge nothing because all you do is insert a CD.
Luckily like i said i have a mate who works at VW who sorted me out.
Do some research on here and also through Google to find what CD you need for a B Unit and decide if you want to get a copy of the CD online. BUT like i said there is a risk of bricking your unit.

There are firmware upgrades on the net you can install. I'd advise you do a bit of reading up as well. I know there are firmwares up to 52xx that work on ALL units without bricking it. But you have you make sure you get the right one
