That old chestnut DRLs
Driving home last night (not in my Roc) I had a exact replica of my own car up my chuff (was it you, Letchlade Glos) something was different about the DRLs, as the inner head light was on but with no side lights, it looked really cool and didn't remind me of just driving around on dipped headlights. I recalled seeing my Wife drive into our drive and side lights were on as well as dipped lights. Checked it out as soon as I got home and its my outside headlights that are on plus side lights plus rear lights, just as driving on dipped lights. What was going on with the other car?? is that how it is with Xenons?? if it was then they look a hundred times nicer than mine!!! So if you have Xenons don't ever turn them off as they look great and are so not dipped headlights.

Re: That old chestnut DRLs
I was fiddling with bulbs last night and noticed two things:
1) I have no front lights when I move the switch to the sidelight position (unless I turn the front fogs on also)
2) My sidelights (DRLs in my case) turn off when the headlights turn on
I changed an option on VAG-COM so I now have my sidelights as DRLs rather than any of the main headlight bulbs.

It's because the car has xenons. With xenons you get separate dedicated DRL's which has the added advantage that the rear and numberplate lights do not come on.pimp my roc wrote:Driving home last night (not in my Roc) I had a exact replica of my own car up my chuff (was it you, Letchlade Glos) something was different about the DRLs, as the inner head light was on but with no side lights, it looked really cool and didn't remind me of just driving around on dipped headlights. I doubt it, but next time I plug VAG-COM in I'm going to take a screenshot of the appropriate option.Evil Derboy wrote:Is this something a dealer could do. Would far prefer that option.true wrote:I was fiddling with bulbs last night and noticed two things:

Audi's with bi-xenons are like this too and one thing I've never understood is why they don't use the DRL bulb for high beam as well as raising the shutter. Obviously they'd have to fit a better bulb like an H7 but still.DJW wrote:It's because the car has xenons.
