Bluetooth Problem

Post by paza »

Hi everyone. This is my first post on this great forum. I hope this is the correct place for my problem. I have retrofitted bluetooth but can't code as per instructions i have seen on here. The result is that I can make and receive calls ok (phone pairs ok, shows in Rns510 and MFD) but I do not have voice control at all( star button on RNS510 does not respond (except when in Nav it says either "guidance system inactive" or gives direction). The mic button on steering wheel either does nothing or mutes sound ( depending on how I code it). The hardware is as follows:
Bluetooth unit 7P6035730j HW15 3200
Vw mic
Rns510 5N0035342B H09 5230

I am using latest VCDS and genuine Ross tech cable.

I have checked and triple checked the pin outs for the mic and loom and all is good.
The problem seems to be a coding problem because I get error 31 out of range when setting 37 navigation to voice control active and short press button.
Managed to flatten battery several times trying to sort this!
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

it's nothing to do with the loom. The activation is within the Navigation module of VCDS. I cant remember the exact bits/bytes though, I will have to check next time I have a spare few minutes.

In my personal opinion, I am not fond of the voice activation. It barely recognises what you say sometimes, and it's annoying when you press the button by mistake while trying to turn the steering wheel. I will be returning mine to its mute function (but that's personal opinion).

Anyway, have a good look in the 37-Navigation module (or whatever number yours is), and see if you find a bit to activate PTT (Push To Talk).

EDIT: Oops, just re-read your post and seen about the "out of range" error.... I think I have seen a solution to that before. Off the top of my head, try to add an extra number at the end of the long code (00 or something), save the code and see if that works. Then edit the coding again.

I might be talking complete nonsense! SO DO AN AUTOSCAN AND SAVE THE ORIGINAL CODING FIRST!!! Also, do some searching on the web, you will come across the same stuff I did I suspect

Hi dimexi, thanks for the fast response and suggestion on the coding. I have spent hours trawling the net for an answer to this issue with no luck. I will try your coding suggestion and see what happens. I will let you know results

I can't remember what issue it solves, but I know I have read somewhere about an "out of range" error that was solved by adding extra numbers at the end of the short code.

I have to say, I didn't have that problem when I coded mine. Took about 2 tries to get the voice activation working though

Dimexi, you are a star! Added 00 in Nav 37 as you suggested and it worked. Thanks ever so much. The Telephone module is throwing an 'Incorrectly Coded' but I don't mind as everything works as it should.
Thanks again

You can paste the coding for your telephone module here whenever you want and I will try to look into it for you :).
