Squeaky windows

Post by bluepeter »

I am not sure if this is the right place to post...

Do any of you have a squeak when the windows drop on unlock and when they return after door close?

I try to keep the car pretty clean but a combination of dry rubber and potential for dust (it's very dusty where the car is parked at work) is obviously the recipe for this noise. I have always used silicone lubricant (aerosol spray) for electric window edge (vertical) rubber on previous cars...

I am not sure that trying to spray upwards will result in anything other than most of the silicone dripping straight out onto the door. Is silicone the best stuff? Are there any dry lubricants, possibly PTFE based?

Thanks selleym - I have got some Gummi on order (not the one you mentioned as a no go) - should arrive in the next couple of days. The warning is appreciated.
