Rear Spoiler Difference

Post by selleym »

Hi,
I was playing around on the VW website configuring a scirocco and saw this optional extra.

I have had a look around at multiple pictures and i cant seem to figure out what the difference between the stock spoiler and this one is?
Guessing it sticks out more but hard to tell in pictures online
Does anyone have a side by side comparison?

Thanks :) just curious.

I'm pretty sure that it's a 'typo' ( or whatever the 'picture' equivalent is !) .

If you look in the printed accessory catalogue the picture is the same as the one you've shown , but the catalogue also gives the part number 1K8071646GRU , that part number is actually the part number for the cup spoiler.

There was a time (a few years ago) when the cup spoiler was unavailable from the dealers , so instead the R spoiler was offered instead (much the same as the stock GT spoiler but a bit deeper) - so it might be a throwback from that.

That's probably because in some cases there isn't a difference. Around 2011 there was a supply issue with the larger R spoilers and the factory had to fit normal spoilers in production for quite long period of time. Not sure when production reverted back to the larger R spoiler
