Recaro Seats

Post by julianf77 »

I am looking at a used Scirocco.

If the car comes with Recaro seats how does that hinder the rear access? I have two teenage kids and im thinking of them!

My dad had a mark 1 scirocco and i remember it was a stuggle for me. (Showing my age)

Not really an issue mate, they fold exactly the same as the standard seats

I know when I had them in my R32 they stole a couple of inches of rear legroom compared to the standard seats. It may be different on the newer ones for the Scirocco but the ones in my R32 had no cable connection between the backrest tilt and the seat slider, so had to slide the seat forward and then tilt the backrest in 2 seperate actions. Not a big issue when you get used to it.

Also, polished rear of the seats were prone to getting scuffed with people getting in and out.

They don't fold as per standard seats as standard seats include an easy access mechanism that slides the seat base forward on pulling the headrest handle. The recaro's if factory fitted do not have this function so you need to reach down and slide the seat forward from the handle at the base. Tilting is still done by the headrest handle.
