Problem with synchros when changing into third?

So every now and then when I do a rapid but by no means insanely forceful change into 2nd to 3rd I can get a bit of gear grinding noise.

Its a mild noise, like i've stuffed it up a little bit, nothing too bad but a bit weird/disconcerting.

I'm pretty sure my gear changes are ok but any way I can be doubly sure before asking VW to look at the gearbox under warranty?

On another note, when braking the car seems to want to pull left slightly, and when hands off the car sometimes prefers the left side, is this a sign tracking is off?

Had a new third gear synchro on mine a couple of weeks ago. Done under the garage warranty where i got it from. Was fine under normal driving but on a bit of spirited driving it would crunch everytime in third.
