Scirocco keyring / key fob

Post by Deagol »

Afternoon all !

My dealer-supplied key fob / leather key ring thing wore out last week (only four years old and out of "warranty" ! LOL) so I had a quick trawl of the web for a replacement.

I opted for one of these found on Ebay - in black to match my car. The seller delivered really quickly and I'm well pleased !

Check out his Ebay store. Apparently, if you want a mug, or some other large item, the car pic can be personalised with the addition of your reg number, or the wheels changed to black and other stuff, no doubt, by arrangement.

I don't think having an exact picture of your car on your keyring is the best idea from a security point of view.....

Yes, that's a valid point and one I thought about before ordering mine.

But my thinking was, if you have your keys stolen from your house, the car is outside anyway.
If the keys get left somewhere, a person picking them up would have to locate your car. If I had dropped the keys, I would be taking steps to notify the police and also get the spare set to drive my car somewhere "secure" so the finder could not take the car.
I think I have mild OCD anyway - despite the flash of the indicators and the "thunk" of the locks engaging, I frequently gently try the door handle of the car "to make sure it's locked" as well as checking on the red LED in the door frame. Then there is the ritual patting of the pocket to make sure the key is in there when I walk away ! ! !
(Own up, everyone, you've all done something similar....)

There are a lot of car-specific key rings out there - some of which have been mentioned elsewhere on this forum - showing the model of car, not just the make. It's all down to personal preference and I thought members might like to see what is out there.
If you don't like the key ring idea, you could go for the mug or the fridge magnet if you don't have enough Scirocco in your life !
