Am I being unrealistic?!

Post by CandyCupcake »

Hi,

I have found a 63 plate Scirocco R, and I am in love with it :)

Now I currently have a 13 plate 2.0TDI (177ps) GTI that I pay £400.00 a month for. Would it be possible for me to get the above R that I have found for cheaper per month on finance than I am currently paying?

I realise I may be asking the dumbest question ever  , but I just do not want to pay more than I currently am, and would only swap my car for cheaper installments.

Many thanks in advance.

I cant see you swaping it for a 63 plate r and the payments not increase. £400 a month for the tdi is alot . Take it you put a very low deposit down.

metaljay - thanks for the response. You're right, I should save - I am just 1. really impatient and 2. trying to reduce my car outgoings. Your answer is definitely the sensible answer though! :) I can only dream of the day I can buy a car outright :(

whitedevil_170 - too be honest, that's what I thought - there is no way it will go down. I suppose I was wanting a miracle deal haha. Yeah, I ordered it brand new with a load of added extras, they took my old car as part ex for £5500 and they put a deposit on it of £1500. I didn't add anything more to it. But, this price also includes the servicing plan, lifeshine and the insurance they offer to cover anything my insurance won't. After reading this site, I now know that I shouldn't have got the lifeshine - but I was naive at the time! I'm useless with cars, so unaware of things I can actually do myself :)

Thank you both, really appreciate your advise!

I didn't mean to come off arrogant, I'm 23 and it took me 3 years to save for my R, plus the money from my previous scirocco as a 'deposit'.

what sort of mileage do you do? I in a way regret my R, as I thought my mileage would drop right down yet I'm driving it more just for the sake of stuff haha

Don't be silly I didn't think you were being arrogant, you're being sensible!

Well my car now is 2 days off 12 months old and I've done 7,500 miles. I purely only got a diesel because my previous car (VW Beetle) was a diesel, so it just felt like the right thing to do. But too be honest, a full tank of petrol lasts me well over a month, which makes me think I could take the drop in MPG and get a petrol. But you're probably right, for the pure pleasure of driving it, I would probably do more! I literally only live about 15 mins drive from work though down normal a roads.

BTW, I am 24, so I completely envy that you have an R!! Especially one that you paid for, how on earth did you save :|
