Manual Roc V5C

Post by Ditchfuuu »

Hi All,
I know this has been mentioned in other topics but I couldn't seem to find a definitive answer.. went to renew the insurance on my manual (candy :D) GT170 and it seems to be coming up as an automatic. Checked the V5C and it's registered as a GT 170 S-A (judging from other topics SA meaning semi-auto).

Could anyone with a manual GT170 let me know what their certificate says? I'm unsure what I need to put down as the model when I send the certificate back to get corrected, guessing the dealer registered it incorrectly in the first place, unsure how I didn't notice it last year though!

Thanks very much :)

It's not the dealers fault, it's the importer to blame. A large number of manual 170s were incorrectly recorded as.Semi-Automatic, including mine. Doesn't bother me necause the emissions value is correct for.a manual, so I'm paying tne correct VED. With insurance, I just.input tne model manually as being.a
2.0 TDI GT (170).

Personally, Iife is too short to try and get DVLA to fix it.

I guess mine must've been included, if the emissions value is correct then I'll just take the same approach as you - like you say, life's too short!!

Renewing now.. hassle out of the way for another year :)
Thanks for the quick response.

I'm going to be that guy sadly, if you were involved in an incident (touch wood) would you still be covered? Insurance companies love to find an excuse and i'd hate for this to cause an issue...

Like i said, sorry to be "that guy" haha :)

I've got a GT-TDi 170 DSG.. 60reg... and all my insurance quotes come up as manual when using the registration. Like others I've just altered the quote, but some insurers seem to take it as a modification rather than incorrect.

Emissions are correct on my V5C, but there's nothing about transmission type, does it just say S/A in the name? (semi-automatic) What should I ask for from DVLA? Just want this sorting so I don't have this hassle with every insurance quote and any subsequent sale.
