Juuust thinking about the future:)
If I ever get used to the power of my (future, hopefully) R I am planning on a VWR intake with stage 1 Software (probably bluefin as cheaper, developed with the VW racing team, not as agressive on boost/low down torque as APR and Revo and can be removed by user)
I drive in a spirited manner but never have dumped a clutch and try to keep things smooth.
Is the stock R clutch up to task of 300BHP at the wheels?
If it needed uprating I am reading Helix is preferred now to the Sachs clutches as they are lighter in operation.
Cheers
Is the R clutch uprated vs 2.0 GT?
Re: Is the R clutch uprated vs 2.0 GT?
issue on clutches is riding the torque curve rather than dropping down a gear and suing the power when mapped, my wife has run revo on a K04 golf and clutch slipped after 70k
i ran a sachs on my rocco and now have a helix on my wife's Golf, helix is a bit easier on the left leg, reason i went dsg on 7R is i did not want to be spending £1K on a clutch and new dmf

A stage 1 map will accelerate wear on the clutch so depending on car age and usage you may need to replace said clutch. There is no real accepted wisdom over when in mileage terms the clutch will need doing. However very few mapped examples have made it to 80k with the stock clutch. I'd suggest that 30k to 50k on a fresh clutch when mapped to stage 1 is about average.
VW designs and rates clutches by a design torque figure in the case of Golf platform vehicles clutches where either 200Nm, 250Nm or 350Nm so the design limit for a R is the same as GT TDI / GT TSI

Ok, I have the car.
I don't think I will think about more power for a while yet:D

How can the R clutch be the same as you say to the GT when the output from the R is significantly more than the 2.0TSI?
Everything else about the car is upgraded so I thought the clutch would be too?
