Good morning
I've recently purchased a Scirocco (170bhp GT) and the light switch is set on auto. The issue is that the headlights remain on all the time and i would have thought they should be off, hence the auto function. The day time running lights, in the bumper, is fine and happy for them to stay on.
Looking for your help on this?
Thanks
Leigh

Yes that's how it's supposed to work.
If you turn it one click to the right you'll just have the little bumper lights on.

Hi
Thanks for your response. Are you saying that if the switch is on 'auto' then the headlights will remain on all the time?
also, my log book states my car should be a DSG but its a manual is this a common problem on the 170BHP and i've noticed a few other people mention this

Re: Auto lights - Headlights staying on
Hi there,
I've also just got my 170 GT although it is DSG and auto and displays this on the log book. I'd just contact DVLA and inform them.
Also the auto lights is very annoying. Apparently it's EU law to have the headlights on all the time now even on AUTO. If you just want the DRL's on (bumper lights) move the knob to the right as mentioned above. You kind of just get used to it though.

Re: Auto lights - Headlights staying on
On Sciroccos with halogen headlights the dipped beam headlights are on all the time in lieu of DRLs, therefore the auto function is redundant. You can disable this with VCDS and gain normal auto functionality.
If you look at the speedo you will see there is no KPH calibration that you nornally get along with MPH. VW have decided to have a digital speedo to display KPH. It's not easily changed without access to VCDS.

Re: Auto lights - Headlights staying on
I had mine in a VAG specialist last week for tracking after fitting Eibach springs. I asked them to turn off the dipped beam when in auto mode, they couldn't do because of the year of my car (60 plate 2011)

The stalk method won't work on that age of car but it should still be able to be disabled using VCDS.Andy Rocc wrote:I had mine in a VAG specialist last week for tracking after fitting Eibach springs. Yes, from the factory the full headlights will stay stuck on at the '0' (off) position and the Auto setting...maxiboy1981 wrote:Are you saying that if the switch is on 'auto' then the headlights will remain on all the time?
Please read the following:

If anyone needs help with this 'feature' please contact me by PM.
Fairly common issue and seems to be to do with the VW database.maxiboy1981 wrote:also, my log book states my car should be a DSG but its a manual is this a common problem on the 170BHP and i've noticed a few other people mention this
