Engine light was on for a while but since there was nothing untoward performance wise I ignored it. Now it's time I got it sorted so took to an independant garage that have done me no harm in the past. They hooked it up and found code p2105,so told me that I needed a new sensor. They replaced it and I drove home, engine light was out and i thought all is well. Next day the light came back on at start up....Ive been using it sparingly last 2 days but I've noticed a real fuel smell inside the car plus a loud whirring noise coming from the engine that gradually fades when I switch off the engine. This didn't happen before I put it into the garage. I specifically told the guys there to check the flaps on the inlet manifold as I googled it on my phone there and then and they assured me it was all fine but obviously not lol
Clutching at straws here but could it be they have made an arse of replacing the sensor or will they tell me that the only fix is complete manifold replacement?
Car is 58 plate with 54K....bought 2nd hand from independant showroom and Im now 7 months out of their warranty. What's the best advice you guys would give, thanks?
Will I need a new inlet manifold?

You can only get the sensor with the manifold, so can't see how they've managed to replace the sensor....

You can't buy the sensor separately though, also you have to remove the manifold to get it. How much did they charge you and what was the quote for the manifold??neil_mac wrote:thats what i thought mate...but they reckon they took it all out and replaced the back sensor?

35 for diagnostic. Then 130 +vat to supply and fit the sensor, i heard them on the phone ordering a part :/.....afterwards the other guy called me and said its a big job and the quote was wrong but they'll do it for a bit more...all in all 210.
Im taking it back tomorrow morning as its obviously still screwed plus the noises and fuel smell, wont start 1st time in the morning - all of which were not there before i gave it to them.
They said the manifold was fine...no stuck flaps or anything. Strange goings on.

Something's a bit odd tbh, the sensor can not be brought separately, so either they brought a second hand unit and swapped the sensor or they have replaced something else, also the reason the whole manifold gets replaced is that the new one is modified as the flaps have issues too. The total cost for the manifold and fitting should be around £350+vat, depending on the hourly labour rate.neil_mac wrote:35 for diagnostic.
