Hi I'm new here

Hello to you all,

I have just got myself a new car, well to myself anyway. It's a 2013 Scirocco R manual with the following options,

Recaro bucket seats
Oryx paint
Panoramic sun roof
19" wheels
Dyne audio/satnav upgrade
Dual zone climate control
Tinted windows etc etc

It had only 450 miles on the clock when I got it, I think it was VW's display car.

Anyway, I am more than pleased with the car and a totally different drive to my last car which was a Honda Civic Type R (ep3). Power delivery, torque, ride and handling all very different.

So as with my last car I would like to do some mods to it, I had a AEM V2 induction kit and a cat back exhaust on the civic but found it to be to loud on motorway trips. I must be getting old! I'm thinking a panel filter change, to keep the air box and as it draws cold air in from outside the car. I can't quite see how the after market ones drawing hot air in from within the engine bay will help, I know they will be less restrictive but hot air is not good for performance.

I'm also looking at a re-map, only stage 1 from the likes of Revo etc.

So what I'm asking is..... what do you lot think? K&N panel filter and Revo stage 1?

Thank you for any help :bounce:

Welcome, Richrush!

That's a damn sexy car! I'm not suprised that you're over the moon with it. Not many people go for Oryx White over Candy. It looks great.

I can't answer your question, I'm afraid....but one of the residents will be around to help you out shortly, I'm sure.

Panel filters in the stock air box don't really have a noticeable effect on airflow rate, tbh changing the factory paper filter more regularly will probably offer similar benefits to an after-market foam filter.

The aftermarket induction kits are all generally designed around the filter(s) increasing surface area to allow more air into the pipework and potentially using bungs to similar to create a "cold" intake zone. Ignoring the odd extreme system all will and do narrow the pipe diameter down at the MAF to approximate the OE size.

You shouldn't need to change anything hardware wise for a stage 1 map.
