Ignition
This is a question for the guys who already have their scirocco...
When I test drove the mercedes and volvo I was really impressed that you didn't need to hold the key on the start position, you just flicked it once and the starter motor would keep going until it started, with my astra and the focus (even with the push button start) you would need to hold the key on start until the engine fired up... It's a nice little touch and I just wondered if the scirocco needs the key held in the start position until it starts or not?
Hope that makes sense, thanks!

Re: Ignition
I do not own a 'roc, but from memory of my test drive, you do have to hold the key in position until engine starts, but this is obviously pretty quick, didn't feel odd or un-natural

Re: Ignition
BTW, had the week, still not seen another on the road and i've driven from Kent to Devon, people keep gawping, asking, pointing and taking pictures. Never had a car that attracts so much attention!

That's a shame... It's such a small thing but it's really impressive... Oh well was just hoping

Re: Ignition
If you hadn't asked I would never have noticed! Don't worry about it, there's LOTS of things this car does very well mate, holding the key for an extra second won't spoil it!

Re: Ignition
And easybreeze, you wouldn't want a Merc', I have a 3 1/2 year old £24K Vito that has developed a lot of rust, it has a 12 year warranty and Merc' tried so hard to welch on thier obligations, I would never buy another Merc product. They have eventually agreed to do the work but it's been like pulling teeth. Apparently they have so many of these claims that they just reject them all to see how many people will bother to pursue it. Very, very bad service from the dealer and the brand.

Re: Ignition
I have to say that after driving a number of cars in the past couple of years that all had push start it would have been nice to have that in the Scirocco.
They could have at least done what they do with the Passat where you just slot the key fob into a hole in the dash.
Don't like the Roc's key thing, but not the end of the world I guess...
