Re: Tapping VW said its the fuel pump and its normal
Went to Vw over here they said the engine is fine, the tapping from the fuel pump is perfectly normal & gets louder win colder conditions. The problem lies between the LPFP and the engine the pipe is coming in contact with the chassis some how or is faulty! I have read about this somewhere I will do some digging, they said its fine as I'm not losing any power ect ect. They also said it's just an inconvenience at the moment nothing to worry about as the noise is only at idle & when coming off the gas while on the move. Hopefully I can get some foam to separate where there is the contact, means getting her onto a ramp & apparently 2 hours to completely expose the pipe. Lots of star screws and plastic protection in my way!

It's not a fuel pressure relief valve.
As its been said that's the N80 valve. The gas tank and lines are all air tight so has vapors don't constantly vent to the atmosphere. But if it stayed air tight the tank would collapse on it self from vacuum forming in the tank. So basically the car pumps in outside air into the gas tank and slightly pressurized it, the evap lines run from the tank to that valve in the video and into te intake manifold. That ticking is the valve opening and closing to slowly let the engine suck the air and gas vapor from the tank into the engine to get burnt up. That valve only opens at idle and it always clicks on and off, since it's a solinoid the click is loud.
Your car is working how it's suppossed to.

We'll I've just took it back for a service got new spark plus oil filter change & fresh oil, the noise has gone!
Any idea guys I'm thinking it was a spark plug issue??

Stupid question maybe, but did you check your oil when you had the ticking?

Turns out it was my Forge Intercooler heat shield which had cracked causing a vibration. Now that has been replaced back to normal
