Excessive front tyre wear

Post by r.gbrown »

Been looking through the forum about this and my problem is perhaps not alone.

Done just over 14k in 2 years and my front tyres are about 3mm. The rears are 5/6mm. Will need to replace early next year.

I'm not heavy footed and check pressures regularly. Wear seems a bit excessive to me :(

May be worth having your suspension geometry checked & adjusted. Although I've found I usually get 16-18k out of a set of fronts on previous cars (not done enough miles in the Roc yet), so I'd say its reasonable. Although I think I'm still on the original rears at 41k.

It's all about the type of driving you do Lots of stop start driving will give lower mileage compared to motorway journeys. I managed 38k fron my original P Zeros on the front of my Rocco by doing mainly motorway miles.

Bobs long lived tyres are mre the exception than the rule!

In any case its wise to do a front to back swap after say 10,000 to even out the wear - that way come change time it will be all four, so your new tyres will all be the same age too.

What pressures does everyone run at ?

My little sticker in the filler flap says 35psi all round , but it was delivered from the dealer at 31psi all round.

Thanks guys, I do mostly town driving so not great for mileage on tyres (or petrol !)

I'll maybe do the front to rear change to even out the wear.
