Thinking of buying a Scirocco!

Post by papa_face »

Hi

I'm contemplating buying one of these later this week. I've put my spec together and I've got a decent quote from a dealer in Wales. Do you guys recommend anything in addition to the below or anything substituted for what I've listed?

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

I'd recommend getting the smoking pack - £20

Whether you smoke or not, it looks nicer than having a big hole in the top of your centre console.

This is completely subject to personal taste, of course.

Oryx white looks stunning in the flesh but cannot see much in the way of residual value over candy white

Cruise Control might be a good one if you do a lot of A/M road driving.

I would suggest first off removing the standard features from your list and concentrate on the actual optional extras that will incur a charge - much easier to see what you are thinking about and offer opinions then....

Update - OK here it is:

Special paint
Electric folding door mirrors
Exterior badge deletion (free)
Bi-Xenon headlights / auto height adjust/ headlight washers
Dynaudio sound pack

I agree you should seriously consider cruise control and either the reversing camera or the sensors (camera is better value in my opinion).

I agree with the other poster regarding the Oryx White paint - a huge cost compared with Candy for very little extra real gain.

Thanks, I'll think about putting that in.

Thanks. I've got CC on my current car and I've never used it even when I've done a lot of long distance driving. There's just something unnatural about it which weirds me out lol.

Yeah I just copy/pasted the list from the dealers site, I know most of them are standard.
I think I may consider the camera because I've been told visibility out the back is a little difficult when reversing?

Does anyone actually have a comparison between candy white/oryx white on a Scirocco? I can't seem to find any.

If satnav is standard then get one that incorporates DAB. There are an additional 180 masts being put up nationally so coverage will be much improved before long.

Seriously - I gather its pretty much impossible to see the difference in photos - you would need to see the two in the flesh so to speak. This thread sort of bears that out - the Oryx White one is the car with the Spitfire in the background :-)

Got to agree with the reverse sensors and/or camera! I regret not getting one or the other every time I reverse in/out/around a corner.

Cruise control - I never use it (pretty defunct in the UK tbh - roads are that clogged up)

Does the RNS315 come with DAB?

Pretty sure it does... have a look at http://www.oemretrofits.co.uk/rns315.shtm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can download the manual from there too.

Thanks. I think I prefer Candy White anyway looking at those photos. I've asked them to re-quote me for the rear camera and the change in paint.

Any other "must have" extras? :)

I think you have it pretty much nailed! Better with CW paint too - its just not worth the extra £700 for Oryx....

If it was my car I would go for the RNS510 sat-nav as it has a bigger screen and looks better but we are splitting hairs now!

I've just realised that the electric folding door mirrors don't fold when you lock the car. This is such a disappointment :(

Sadly not - but they do (or rather can if selected to do so) on the Golf mk.7!
