Speed related headlights come on

Post by salsajoe »

Did not realise that headlights on my 2011 car come on at speed. DRLs are off with VAGCOM but on the continent autobahn at over 100mph the headlights came on. Anyone know if this is standard on all variants?

Yes, it's standard. You need to have the switch on "auto" and they come on at around 80mph.

Another one is if you have the lights on "auto" and the wipers on "auto" and the lights will come on after 4 continous wipes

Nice one Cuprabob - I didn't know that.
I was too busy looking at where I was going when blatting along the autobahn a couple of weeks back to notice whether the lights had come on!

Thanks for that Cuprabob. Had noticed the wiper/lights one but do not normally go above 70 :)

Are you sure? Would the heater control lights come on too as I've just driven down the south of France at 85/90mph all the way and I'm sure they were off all the way :?

Did you have your headlight switch set to "Auto"?
