Can anyone help me with a fault recently identified?
Symptom is the Engine Management Light (orange icon of engine) coming on while engine running? Basic manual supplied with car suggests exhaust sensor problem but having had it plugged into diagnostic unit a garage the fault code given is "09754 Coolant Pump 2 Open Circuit P261A"
I assume this is maybe an electric pump to circulate coolant when engine has been stopped in order to continue cooling of engine?
While the guy at the garage had the diagnostic unit he did not know what the problem was!
Car is 2009 VW Scirocco 2.0 TDi GT
Thanks
Nick

Re: Engine Management Light on Fault 09754
There is a secondary electric coolant pump that continues to circulate the coolant for a few minutes after engine is switched off to prevent heatsoak.
Sounds as if it's failed.or a fuse has blown or a wire has broke.

Thanks for the quick response, let's hope it's a loose connection or fuse. Just need to find where the pump/connector is in the engine bay, can you give me any idea?

Does anyone know which fuse number it is? Does not tell you in basic manual! I assume it will be one under the bonnet?

Have a look on this thread regarding the fuse, if there is one,
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... ist#p67107" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
With regards to the location of the pump, i don't know where it is exactly on the Rocco but assume it's bolted onto the block where the water pipes come from the radiator / thermostat

Thanks, SB20 is the fuse for the coolant pump but guess what, there is no fuse fitted and I know it's not dropped out or vanished!! I get the feeling the fault code system for all new cars are just a money making exercise for the aftermarket departments :-(

Now here's a coincidence (or is it?). Offside headlamp bulb was loose and gave bulb failure warning light indication on the dash panel, on re-seating the bulb both the bulb warning light and the engine management lights have now cleared!!
Ummmmm, is the ECU "Windows" based?

Re: Engine Management Light on Fault 09754
Thoroughly checked out by the garage and while the fault still appeared as history when plugged in to the diagnostic kit there were no warnings on the car dash pod! headlamp bulb replaced, harness in engine bay checked and found one loose(ish) connection and an earth point tightened up and fault cleared. Fingers crossed problem is now resolved?
