Brake pad warning light
I have just had some new pads fitted at a local garage. The brake pad warning light keeps coming on ever since. I have takern it back to the garage, but they said they cant do anything as it's not on all the time. Any ideas what it could be.
Re: Brake pad warning light
have you had genuine VW pads front pads fitted, the genuine ones have wear indicators which connect to the system, after market pads may or may not have this feature, the error can be taken care of by using VCDS to code this out

I had to repair mine, you can do it yourself if you have a crimp tool or can borrow one (they are relatively inexpensive). VW sell all the parts but I wouldn't buy a crimp tool or the connectors from them as they are very expensive and for the same price you can have a box full that you can use elsewhere.
Anyway, you need to know which part has broken, and not get the wrong connector. I do have the part codes somewhere, you need a wiring kit which is basically a wire that you get and you have to cut in half, and for good measure to protect it I used a heat shrink wrap.
You trim the wires on the part broken, crimp to the new wires (which you trim to appropriate size), slide the heat shrink over and use a heat gun or hair dryer to shrink, pop the wires into the new connector and reconnect.

Surely the garge that fitted the pads should be sorting this, I'd suggest they'd been particularly rough in prising the connector apart.Andydavis1987 wrote:I had the wheel of and they are vw pads.
