RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
Just pick up my new scirocco GT this weekend (love it) and am thinking of getting getting the bluetooth set up on the RCD510. The dealer told me that all of the background wiring etc is all there but just needs something adding on to make it all work. My questions are these:
Can someone please tell me what is the part I need and how much it would roughly cost?
Is it difficult to retro fit?
Will it work with the iPhone 5?
Thanks in advance

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
Depending on the year of the car mate the bluetooth should already be there as standard on a GT. Check under the drivers seat and there should be a black bluetooth module.
I have an iPhone 5 and it works perfectly but i can't seem to fathom out how to stream music from my phone to the RNS510 via bluetooth.

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
It's only cars ordered after Aug 2011 that have BT as standard, so your car won't have it unless it was specced as an option.

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
If its a 59 plate it's likely to have the older type of Bluetooth that only works with rsap type Bluetooth. Won't work for iPhone 5.

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
dstill,
What bluetooth module and what entertainment unit and software version?
I had this issue myself with RNS 510 and fixed it with a software update

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
I have a 2010 model, it didnt come with factory bluetooth, but has a bury system installed. I suspect you will have to install the VW version yourself. I am currently looking into this, as I am not a fan of the bury system, but I havent got that far yet

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
Can you see what firmware version you have? Should be visible in the secret set up menu, which can be made visible through VCDS.
You need RNS software > 3810 I believe to make A2DP work correctly.

RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
Have a look on my-gti.com or the vwnavi forum for more info
Be sure to check the revision of your canbus too before proceeding, as you'll find commentary on my-gti around potential battery drain issues depending on your canbus and later firmware
Thanks,
Maq

Re: RCD 510 Bluetooth Questions
Thanks mate but I've already checked on my-gti and the firmware that is apparently newer than mine they state the link will be posted shortly but it has been like that on the website for a couple of months now.
Do you have to change the canbus software version to prevent battery drain?
