Connecting iPhone 4S to Scirocco using Bluetooth?

Post by vmy »

Hi guys - signed up to this forum in the hope that someone can help me :D

I have a GT 2.0 Scirocco tdi 140 - 2010 59 plate.
Great car - but one thing is driving me crazy.
I can connect my iPhone to play my tunes, no issues.
But I can't seem to get the bluetooth to work for the phone.

I've been through the manual a dozen times. I have switched the phone on and off, bluetooth on and off. I've tried with the ignition on, with the engine running whilst parked. The lot. But the phone seems to just keep searching for a device and it's picking nothing up from the car at all. I'm fairly convinced it's the car not the phone as it's finding other available devices, just not my Scirocco.

Book says, switch on ignition, make sure bluetooth is enabled on phone, press the phone button on the steering wheel twice quickly and it should make a noise through the speakers and allow your phone to find the device. Is there something really obvious I'm missing here??

Any ideas, hints, tips? Has anyone had the same issue? Before I drive myself mad! :? :? :? :? :?

Thanks - Vic

Is the bluetooth installed from factory or installed afterwards?
I had the same issue, the car could'nt find the phone. It was the bluetooth headunit which was broken.

This might be due to the VW bluetooth version you have installed. From my browse through the forums over time, it seems there is a version of the bluetooth module which only supports rSAP (please correct if necessary). This module only works with Nokia phones.

The newer module is compatible with the iPhones; this can be purchased on ebay and it's plug and play.

But I don't know if this is the problem. I guess you can have a look for the model number of the unit under your seat

does the car definitely have Bluetooth installed? the phone button is on all radios/mfsw regardless of Bluetooth or not.

In the process of connecting (if you have a Bluetooth module under your seat) you will see the car trying to find the phone with messages displayed in the MFD, such as 'Searching for phones' etc (rather than looking at what the phone itself is doing). I suspect your car does not have Bluetooth.

I am thinking of moving to an i-phone 4S or 5 but will only do so if I can connect to the hands-free unit on my Scirocco 2.0 GT registered in March '12. I do know these 2 phones have a later version of Bluetooth than the i-phone 4 and wonder if that causes a problem as from all I hear the i-phone 4 connects ok. Can anyone help on this please?
