Exhaust light

Post by Danni1 »

Guys, new to forum so hope in right page!

Today my exhaust light came on ( steady). I have a gt tsi. I'm in a bit of a panic as my husband is working away this fortnight & I have to take my daughter to a gymnastics competition tomorrow to Motherwell ( about 30 miles) - will it be ok to drive?

Yours panically

No, took it out @ gave it a bit of a hammering (previous advice!) but seems to be running fine!

Stupid advice.

Its not advisable to drive but if you hear clatter noises on starting it tomorrow or driving, stop immediately (PDQ) and do not use. Otherwise, drive gently. Should really go to the dealer workshop.

Mine popped up recently, only for a short time 10 seconds or so but it definitely juddered and felt like traction control was kicking in even though it wasn't, so something was amiss.... anyways to cut a long story short it was probably an ignition coil / spark plug on the way out, so i replaced them all as a caution, not seen the error again.
