Grinding sound

Post by char »

Hi guys

I noticed this weekend when driving in a car park and going up the levels turning the steering wheel hard to the right, I get a horrible grinding banging sound which I think is from the rear left wheel area passenger side. Any ideas what it could be, is it bad? :( I dont get the noise in normal driving, so I presume its the tight turning effort. (Mileage approx 36k)

Cheers

It could be a stone trapped between the disc and the backing plate.

When I first experienced it in my R32, I was reversing and the noise was unbelievable. I half expected the propshaft to be dragging on the ground, it ws that bad.

Yes Bob - exactly what I had - sounded like the entire exhaust had fallen off. I was very surprised to not find anything underneath the car dragging along!
