Windows

Post by Tony mac »

Advice please:

I purchased a scirocco new 4 years ago and since we've had it there have been problems with the electric windows when the weather is very cold.......they drop about 30mm and will not go back up until the temperature changes. We have the car into Benfield motors 8 times without any success and the last time it happened I refused to take it into the dealership so they picked it up, I told them I didn't want the car back until the problem was resolved. Today we received a call to say that they had found the fault in the ignition system and they could repair it but the part would be over 2 hundred pounds and we would be required to pay 50% of the total bill.
Now please tell me if I'm wrong here but this has been going on for 4 years now and I think I am right to refuse to pay anything to repair an obvious VW technical problem.

Please advise

Thanks

I agree you shouldn't have to pay anything if you have highlighted the problem several times during the warranty period and the dealer were unable to identify the problem. I would say the dealer has to take some responsibility. Possibly worth a call to VW CS

Ask them to print off a log of your visits to them which should be all the evidence you need to justify them paying up for the work.

The key to this is being able to produce the evidence that the car had been to the dealer for the exact same issue during the, warranty period and that the dealer were unable to identify and resolve the issue. Multiple instances would be even better.

I know if I have any issues like this I mention it to them when I get it serviced so that there is a record on the jobsheet and invoice incase it becomes a bigger problem in future, out of warranty.

I have sympathy with your issues Tony - but why on earth kep taking a car back to the same place that consistantly demonstrates an inabilty to rectify it? I can imagine perhaps to or three tries at the most - but eight!! :eyepop:
