Not again

Post by candyboytsi210 »

Hi guys,

Well since owning the new 2.0TSi dsg, i've been having a lot of issues with the car, boot rattle, breather valve, tapping noises, whining, its an 59 plate bought from VW Durham.
With 31k miles. (now on 33k as need to travel work somehow)

Now i purchased it on the 4th of December (pick up date), a week into it i called them to let them know i've had a lot of problems with these noises and they shouldn't be normal and how they let the car go, ( when i got there on the day they missed a big scratch and paint job, waited around 2 hours for it to be done)

They sent a transporter down to collect my car and they gave me an UP! :grumpy: And this was only about 2weeks ago. so i had to put up with the car up until then, They say they looked at the car i got it back 3 days after and still i have the same problems? Derby VW have diagnosed it and said there are faults but the point is Durham sold me a car that has faults.

I dont want to have to think that in a year when my warrantys out ill be having more major issues with the car,

What are my options with actions to the dealer? the sales assistant manager is being very co-operative and understands my point.

Please all help is appreciated.

Boot rattle should be an easy fix for the dealer....we had it on our car from day one and it was fixed within a few days and never returned. As for the tapping noises if you are talking from the engine...then all TSI engines have this abit and most of this comes from the direct injection system used......ours is sometimes worse on certain days than others....but ive never felt is was a problem.

Common problems which may need attention are.....

Squealing noise from the engine area....sounds like a belt but is often either the clutch release bearing or pressure plate - we had this and ended up having the newer bearing and a new clutch fitted in warrenty.

Rattling wastegate linkage - sounds abit like a exhaust heat shield rattle - easy dealer fix - clip attached to wastegate linkage - part cheap but would be a pain to do yourself.

We had some problems with passenger window not dropping when opening door - new door handle and window control unit in warrenty fixed this...still not sure which part fixed it.

Ive read horror stories about the manifold air inlet flapper falling off...which results in sky high fuel consumption....full new inlet manifold needed and expensive labour charge....but im not sure how common this is TBH

After over 3 years of owning the Rocco....I still consider it to be average for a modern car for faults....I had much worse in a R56 Mini JCW trust me....

Hope this helps
Ken

it is under a 1 year warranty with vw. i have already given them the chance to fix it when they done a 350 mile trip to collect and another 350 to drop of my car on a transporter. yet i still get the car back with the exact same problems, i mean what im trying to point out is that they sold the car with all these issues , surely i've got something to stand on right? or am i getting way ahead of my self here.

Thanks

VB - as the car was used and few years old I really don't think there is any point in you getting worked up about problems which were present on the car when you picked it up as long as you can get them fixed under warranty. All cars have niggling faults to a greater or lesser extent. Mine was under a year old when I got it in December and it had the boot rattle (cured by the ususal bump stop adjustment) and a faulty window controller (being replaced tomorrow) which prevented the drivers window going all the way up - and in turn causing an nasty wind whistle in my right ear! Now I could have taken the attitude 'why was this not spotted, why did the VW employee (and I know his name as he did not erase his peronlaised i-phone!) who drove it for ten months not realise there were faults and get them sorted?' But to be honest, whats the point - they are covered by warranty and I just deal with my local VW dealer who sorts them - I cant even be bothered to tell the dealer that sold it to me.

Great colour by the way - Romford VW had an R in VG when I got mine and it did look stunning - so much better than any photo I have seen!

Totally agree with Mark V  - similar thing happened to me - bought a car in Jan and it had niggles that should have been spotted - horn didn't even work and the previous user's cds were still in it! All under warranty, and were repaired by a different dealer than I bought it from nice and quick - check the thread here:

Hard not to feel gutted, I know, but get it sorted asap, put it behind you and enjoy the drive - it'll be worth the hassle! Keep us updated...

Maybe worth reading this if your considering a BMW and are expecting it to be problem free

I had a 57 plate 320i M Sport - worst car ever owned, constant engine management problems, wheels cracking, clutch and flywheel replaced after 18k and then again after another 7k miles. It looked the nuts but its no fun driving a car you have zero confidence in. I thought it was a friday afternoon car but not only has everyone I have even spoken too had similar issues but the web is littered with similar horror stories.....

I've opted for a 320d M Sport Manual on a 2008 Model. Silver, Dakota leathers (heated) , Xenons, 18s (19s crack) , and all other options are there alot more than a standard vw roc.

Im not saying the sciroccos bad . i love them had 3 of them but fancied a change,
