Suspension advice please

Post by Ronquinn »

Hello , I am looking to lower my R and keep the ride characteristics the same, what do other members recommend ?
The cost isn't really an issue , just want the car to look a bit better..

Many thanks

Ron

Firstly, do you have DCC?

If you do then I guess a set of Eibach springs will lower you and keep most of the ride comfort you require.

If you're willing to spend quite a bit extra and you don't have the DCC option then I can fully recommend the Bilstien B16 Ride Control coilovers. A much comfier ride than standard in normal mode but with better damping and at the press of a button you go to sports mode which is firmer than standard but still with much better damping.

Hi Ron,

DCC is a good system so stick with it and just go for a high quality set of springs such as the Eibachs, that will give you the lowering you require but keep the selective damping of the factory setup.

Mine didnt come with the DCC so I selected the Bilsteins because they are switchable, the ride is fantastic with them, very comfortable in normal mode and nice and firm in sports.
Coilovers aren't necessary, they just give the option of changing the ride height but to be honest, once you've found a height you're happy with they stay there, something Eibach will do for you and sell you a spring with a nice amount of lowering and the correct spring rates for the standard dampers.

If cost isnt really an issue, perhaps you should consider KW electronically adjustable shocks for the non DCC scirocco R, for 2.500 euro (~2.000 pounds).. Its really a cool gadget, shocks are adjusted via an Iphone app...
