My 2011 GT TDI has decided to develop an extremely noisy rattle this morning.
It sounds like a metal drinks can is being dragged underneath the car. It happens around 10-20mph under low revs?
I know there has been a few issues in the past that sound similar but none seem to fit the bill?
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It's going in to the dealers tomorrow and I'd like to have an idea as to what it is before I do.
It's a DSG if that makes any difference.
Many thanks.
Advice needed.

Idle seemed alright but at one point when off the brake with no accelarator it seemed to struggle?RW1 wrote:What was the idle like, normal or irratic?

It's a 140.
Re: Advice needed.
Is it the issue that was with the waste gate rattle?

Re: Advice needed.
Waste Gate rattle is TSi petrol.
I suspect one of the cylinder head valve Roller Rocker Levers (fingers) has jumped out of position or has jammed. This lever is the part that sits between the top of the inlet or outlet valve stem and the camshaft. As the cam rotates, the cam lobe forces the lever to rock about a central hinge point onto the top of the valve stem. So the valve is pushed open and released to close.
They will remove the engine cam cover and inspect for a damaged Roller Rocker Lever. They will also look for damage caused by the offending lever/valve position in that position and further inspect all the other Levers. The offending Lever will be replaced and all re-assembled.

Re: Advice needed.
Cheers for that mate.
I'll mention that to the dealer. Hopefully they might know anyway.
