Has anyone had a problem with the warning light being stuck on and being fobbed off by the dealers that "you must have a puncture/damaged tyre"?

Mine's been on for over a month now - all tyres fine so far as I can tell, all same pressure, correct pressure, and maintaining pressure. It won't reset when I press the button in the glovebox. As I understand it, the system only works through the ABS sensors when the car is being driven. So even if I have a dodgy tyre, it should still reset when I'm parked on my drive - it will just come on again as soon as I drive off again.

Is that right?

Dropped it in for a service this morning, explained the problem to the girl on the reception - she said "if there's a screw stuck in the tyre, it won't reset". I told her, politely, that was cobblers and that the book itself says there may be a fault in the system if it won't reset. But she was having none of it. Hopefully the guys in the workshop will see a fault flagged when they hook it up to the diagnostic machine (assuming they do bother to).

But just wanted to check I was right in anticipation of them fobbing me off later today when I collect.

You are right the system should reset when you push the button for 2 secs. The light should go out and you should hear a "bong". Even if it had a nail stuck in the tyre it will only come on again after the tyre has lost another 5 psi or so from being reset and been driven.

Even if all tyres were flat it would still reset.

Glad it's been resolved. And indeed not trying to stir, just suggest it's possible.

Having checked label inside fuel cap on my R with 19" wheels (save you reading the profile), recommended is 38psi front and rear for 2 people. Loaded with luggage and 4 people, they recommend 46psi at the rear.

So each to their own, and not saying they're right, just saying it's possible.

Thanks for the confirmation. Thought that was right, just wanted the back up!

Anyway, the reset button in the glovebox isn't working, so it's booked in for a replacement fitting next week.

Though that doesn't answer the question of why the light came on in the first place (unless it is sophisticated enough to recognise that the button was no longer working and flagged the warning light? - perhaps there is more to come in this episode...)

Mine came on recently as well, but again no puncture or anything obvious. I also have an after market system fitted ( valve cap sensor with a handheld gadget) because i don't trust the factory one, and that one was showing 38,38,38 , 35. The one with the 35 ( right rear) had stayed on like this for months, with no decrease, so i was surprised why the factory one lit up. I will have to check it out when i take the summers off.

Mine came on the other day, for the second time, I thought it was a faulty valve but on closer inspect I noticed a nail close to the edge (unrepairable ive been told) in my P7. That said, the tyre only looses 4 PSI over a 2 week period so i'm living with it for now. Just bought 2 new P7s which totalled around £350!!.

The P7's have this 'seal something?' technology which i presume is doing something to stop my tyre going down faster than it should. Pirelli say you're not supposed to notice if you get a puncture.

I wonder what would happen if it pulled the nail out :?
