ABS & ESP lights on, any 'quick' fix?
Car has been stood for about a week, admittedly in the pouring rain for most of it. Set off today and the ABS and ESP dash lights come on above approx 20 mph (never happened before). Basically does anyone know if this can be pin pointed to a specific problem or can it mean a multitude of things? Brakes work fine otherwise, the handbook just elusively states there is a fault, go see the stealer
Cheers.
Cheers.

Down to diagnostics first to see what has registered.

Ah was just about to reply to your first post, just checked the ACC connectors and no gunge to speak of, which has got to be a good thing... Thanks for the info anyway. Typically I've a million miles to do over the next few days, is it a case of what the book states - i.e just ABS and ESP are inop? Is there potential for further damage? (Notwithstanding the unknown cause of original problem of course)

Had a re-think as there was a missing point in your top post, so no the usual problem.
You certainly won't have ABS Braking working. Handbook does advise not to drive other than "drive carefully" to the dealership for investigation and repair. With this wet weather and higher speeds I wouldn't want to be without ABS!

Agreed, it's off into VW this week, oh joy... Out of interest is there a shelf life on these particular shocks? Was hoping for a few more years out of the car when finance is over, not keen on having to replace them every four years. Safe assumption would be they aint cheap either?

Any idea if the fault code will need clearing via diagnostics? Basically VW traced the fault to a speed sensor, but after them quoting a ludicrous price to change it, I sourced a new one and swapped it but the fault still re-ocurrs when speed goes over 20.RW1 wrote:Down to diagnostics first to see what has registered.

When the car is switched off, the ABS light just lights up on ignition then goes out once moving, so it looks to clear. Turn car off at this stage and next ignition shows no ABS light, but exceed 20 it's yellow light city again

It usually requires the codes to be cleared. Pity, I went through Huddersfield/Sheffield/Chesterfield at tea-time with the laptop on board which supports the Corrado VR6 while out for a potter.
