Door Lug

There's a metal lug (can't think of a better way to describe it) at the bottom of both doors, it has a hole in it and fits into a slot in the door sill when the door's closed - what's it for?

Inside the slot is a metal solenoid plunger that locks into the slot in the metal lug. It is to stop the wide door bursting in/open in an accident.
