Re: Goodbye - another one bites the dust...
Yeah - I had a 987 Boxster S, and the Cayman is like that, only tauter - superb cars. I have PCM, PASM, Sports seats and wheel, 19" Carrera Sport rims, cruise control and the short shift kit. In white. Can't wait... As to the 'R' - I did consider it, but I wanted something RWD ultimately and it...

Goodbye - another one bites the dust...
So, after a year of happy motoring in my CW 'Roc, I've chopped it in for my next set of wheels - an 08 Porsche Cayman S. My Roc didn't miss a beat once, and has been a comfortable and surprisingly quick companion since July last year. However, I bought it at just the wrong time - literally just days...

Re: Scirocco R sold :(
Indeed - a good Porsche 996 Carerra 2S can be had for about 22k these days - how does that compare to a 57 plate diesel golf?

Re: Scirocco R sold :(
What a shame - though I reckon you'll be happy with the Seat, and even happier when you get a house - now's a great time to be buying a house, especially if you don't have anything to sell. We exchanged contracts last week and so I'm also thinking of getting rid of my 'Roc (210PS GT if anybody's int...

Re: ACC Anyone actually notice the difference?
Define 'better handling'. I had a Zetec some years ago too, and my 'Roc is, to my mind, the better handling car. Perhaps not a better ride though, I'll grant you. Handling is very subjective in my eyes - my previous car was RWD and handled better than the 'Roc, but I can very well see why some peopl...

Re: Stupid Deer
A deer would have probably ended up sat in your passenger seat. I'll check my email - a friend of mine in the US hit a 'Turkey' (they call 'em turkeys, I don't think we do) and the damn thing went through the screen and then exploded against the inside of the rear window of his station wagon. The ph...

The OP finishes by saying he should have taken it home - I presume not to offer it a nice cup of coffee and a sit down, but rather to skin it and eat it.

Re: Damage to Rear Nearside Wheel Arch
I have an almost identical dent - picked up on my street. Whoever did it didn't stop to tell me either. They also clipped the alloy. Haven't had a quote, but have also thought about Chipsaway - please do post with how you get on - good luck.

Re: What Car Top 5 Best New Coupes...
Its been up there unchanged for a while so I would have thought if it was a mistake they would have fixed it. But also with all of them it is referring to the car itself rather than a particular model.. They've fixed it! The Bentley Conti GT is now 4th, the 'Roc is 2nd after the TT. Still a very go...

Re: Trackers
All of that said would a joy-ridden Roc be driven any harder than you'd drive yourself on a track day? And modern cars can take a fair bit of abuse... Nevertheless, I don't have a tracker and won't be fitting one, but I do live in Bishops Stortford where the crime rate is absurdly low.

Re: Trackers
I had one on my Boxster as a condition of the insurance - at over £100 a year, it wasn't that cheap. And no, I wouldn't have necessarily wanted it back - all depends how quickly Plod gets it back for you. I wouldn't recommend fitting one yourself - surely it'd be too easy to locate? The professional...

Re: To Mod, or not to Mod?
Yep - I've neved modded anything, but I've been toying with the idea of a remap for ages, though the warranty concerns me a bit as my car isn't quite a year old yet... And yes, they look good if you drop 'em a bit.

Halfords did a European driving kit - a bit pricey, but includes everything. And proved very handy the other day when I had to change the bulb in one of my sidelights.

Re: Pressure washers
Yep - I don't use my pressure washer for anything other than the patio and my garden furniture - even then it has stripped varnish from wooden furniture. I knackered the brake light on a GTi using a garage's washer once - never again.

Re: weird dents
Haha - I've never even noticed them. Though this thread reminds me of a fella on the Boxster forum who asked why his 2-disc changer in the glovebox never worked. Possibly because on Boxsters theres a couple of old fashioned CD-storage slots in the glovebox. The guy got so upset by the mickey taking ...

Re: What an expensive car....
Is it my imagination or does this thread not echo a very short column in Autocar about the R where the journo (Sutcliffe I think) moans about the cost of unleaded for his R? From a casual observer's point of view this thread is quite amusing though...I'm just waiting for somebody to suggest they get...

Re: Scirocco group test in may evo
Precisely - I needed a more practical car after my Boxster, and wanted to save some money hence R's were out (annoyingly things have changed and I could have one now, but too late to change as I'd lose a packet) - the 'Roc isn't a dedicated sports car, but it's a good drive, it looks good and can do...

Re: Scirocco group test in may evo
Yeah, I was perplexed by that - I don't think it's as derivative as they say, nor do I think that white hurts it - in fact I chose white myself (for the reason that I rather like it in white!). But that's personal taste - I don't really care what they think of the looks. It's quicker, handles better...

Re: Scirocco group test in may evo
Re: the 0-60 time, it's nigh on impossible to time anywhere but on a strip as most people don't have the right gear. That said my Boxster S put out 296hp and was quoted at 5.5ish to 60 and the 'Roc only feels very slightly slower (mine being a DSG). Whether mine is unusually 'fit' I don't know, but ...
