1.4 Twincharged (160) squeak at low RPM’s when accelerating.
Sorry if this has already been covered, I am new to the forum.
I have a 2012 Rocco 1.4 TSI 160 Twincharger. Since having the timing chain and water pump replaced I have noticed, when at low RPM’s, I blip the throttle and get a squeaking noise coming from the engine. I have narrowed it down to the right hand side which is where the water pump is located to my understanding.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what can be done to fix it? Is it a case of badly fitted water pump or water pump failure? I am having no water leaks and temperatures are staying bang on where they should be.
Any help would be much appreciated! I will link to a video of my car making the noise.
Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a poorly tensioned belt. Sorry I'm not familiar with the twincharger engine and if the water pump has its own belt or if it's driven off the same belt that drives the alternator and air con compressor.

Thanks for the reply!
I quickly ruled out the timing chain as there is no rattle that you’d expect, but if this is a possibility I shall take it to the garage ASAP as I don’t want to ruin my engine!
Thanks

Don't worry it's nothing to with the timing chain. It'll be a rubber belt that is slipping on the pulley.
As I said, I'm not familiar with how the water pump is driven on that engine, if that is the source.
In summary, have the garage check the tension on the rubber drive belt(s).

Let us know how you get on...
I had an Up! that would do this everytime you went through a deep puddle. The water would cause the auxiliary drive belt to slip until it dried out.

From your description, I think the squeak might be related with the charger coming online. From my experience, mechanics tend not to change the supercharger belt+ tensioner due to lack of space.
Did you change the entire drive belt kit? Rollers, belts, etc?

Yeah it sounds like that to me too! As you have written this, the garage I took it too seemed to think it was the supercharger belt also so we have ordered a set (belt and tensioner).
This should all be fitted in the next few days to hopefully solve the problem!
I will post an update in the days to come, thanks for your replies!

I’ve got exactly the same thing and it’s getting progressively worse. It might be the electric clutch for the supercharger at fault which will be a lot more costly.
