Cheers mate. I'm being patient, thankfully the guy buying my Z4 is happy to wait for me to source a good replacement.
Have posted a topic, ideally I want a 170 with leather/heated seats and parking sensors for under 12k, anything else is a plus Don't really want more then 70k miles.
Mines up for sale! 2012 R Line TDI 170 DSG in Viper Green. 37500 miles, brilliant mpg, plenty of go, really good condition. You'd struggle to find better for the price! Looking to sell rather than PX so I can put more deposit down. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... 2040709455" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Doable?
Yes, but it will take some time ...
I paid £10k for mine with one private owner, FVWSH and 90k miles, fully spec'd out. The mileage wasn't an issue for me as its been used as a motorway muncher.

Slightly over my budget and I'm after a manual unfortunately, but a gorgeous looking car otherwise!
Options: 19 inch lugano alloys , Metal pedals, satnav , DAB , leather , parking sensors , Red footwell LEDs , white led interior , hkb door sills , Needle sweep ,Horn beep on open/close , big speedo, drl deactivated, cornering fogs, An ocd for keeping it clean! Gloss black mirrors. revo stage 1 remap
DSG can be driven like a tiptronic box pushing forward or back on the stick. Also use paddles, right to change up and left for down. Manual change can be done whilst in auto to override gears or shifter can be put into full manual. When you shift down the engine will blip to match revs which sound great! Amazing tech and much faster than manual 0-60. Everyone should drive one, very few would go back.

It is important you try both ... I did before I bought mine and preferred the manual. I've since also driven a new R-line with DSG fitted a couple of times and it is very very good but I still wouldn't change it for my manual. Both have pro's and con's and the DSG is not 'much' faster than a manual either... There is something like 0.2 seconds between it so in the real world means nothing.

One thing about DSG, to get the best out of it, you be prepared to change your driving style. It is brilliant but it does have a few nuances and quirks.
Also, the DSG requires an oil and filter change every 40k miles, so check it's been done if you decide to go down that route.
Not sure what nuances and quirks you have had, I drive mine no different than previous manual cars. Much easier to consistently drive quick, off the lights foot flat to the floor in sport mode = big smile!
