No advisorys which is good.

Side note though. When I dropped the car off she said we will also perform a software update. I said no thanks as it will remove my remap that I have installed. Ok that's fine. There was No mention of the emissions update.. Just a software update.

Picked the car up today and she says no software update was done. And it states this on the invoice. But it states Ea189 NOX update . I asked about this and she said it was the softeare update. It wasn't done as it would remove your remap. But it is the emissions update. She said any car that goes in now for services etc will get the update unless the owner declines. In no way is it mandatory. So just a note for anyone not wanting this emissions update. It's being carried out on cars now unless you decline it.

Strange how they haven't sent any more letters out regarding this saying the update is available.
I'd seen a few people on the facebook groups who have recieved letters recently regarding their diesels? (welcome back by the way :D )

Nahhhh, not a write off at all mate. Damage should be repaired for <£1000 I reckon.

Just a blooming hassle. It's hard enough getting his insurance details cos he went through a broker. But esure said I should try chase it myself and see how far I can get

Either way I'm not fussed as I won't be getting it done.

And thanks! Lol didn't think anybody would notice. Just took a break from forums . More important things happening at the moment.

Absolutely nothing. Don't clean it. Just service and maintain it.
It's safe. Got good tyres, goes and stops in a straight line.
Oh and a full service with genuine VW parts and long life oil every 10k cost me just over £100.

Busy weekend for Walter - MOT Friday with a retest Saturday first thing

Apparently honeycomb backgrounds are now an MOT failure :grumpy: - since June 16!!!

However friendly tester allowed me to stick old number plates over the top for the five minutes necessary to satisfy himself that he was legal and then five minutes after that they were cordially removed and returned to the shed

Then today I drove him over to get his cam belt done

That's right, after 44k and five years a cam belt !!

after taking words of advice (Thanks Bob) and having it put in my mind and then rampaging around I decided it was probably the best option

So the leather interior on eBay for £525 currently will have to wait - hope you enjoyed your weekend all

Had new cam belt fitted. with tensioners and water pump replacement of course. Car is 6 years old, 56000 miles, it just kinda slipped my mind before. Cost £322 at my local independent.

Been to collect it from the garage after the software mod was done, only drove it home half a mile so not given it a good drive yet, so will wait and see if it changed in any way.

They gave me a pressie for taking it in.

VW box containing a keyring, pen, box of smarties and business cards. Underneath a stainless steel mug, not quite the $5000 - $10,000 dollars the Americans are getting.
