Whicher: By the time you've put on all the GT options onto your 160, you could've nigh-on bought a GT 2.0TSI, unless insurance or economy played a big part in your choice. With the badges gone, if you added exhaust tips, you'd get the look of a 2.0TSI - is this why you'd de-badge?

Don't mind debadging the engine badges for an uncluttered rear, but when people start taking the marque badges off, it looks a bit daft.

Hard to keep count of the number of Corsas around my way that have lost their grille badges - does it look like some sports car all of a sudden and less like a Corsa now that it doesn't have a Vauxhall badge? Nope.

Hi Maisbitt,

It was purely because I wasn't keen on having the red TSI on there to be honest. Hadn't really thought about the fact that it would look like a GT... certainly not trying to make people think it is! I just really loved the 1.4 engine and couldn't really tell that much of a difference with my driving style. I test drove a 1.4L about a month after the 2L and am more than happy with the performance it gives me compared to my current car... and it's better on the old carbon emissions, petrol, tax, insurance etc etc. Just specced it up because I liked the options and had some spare cash. :D

Don't know why VW won't put out a GT pack for the 1.4TSIs. It's already not engine exclusive seeing as you can get the 140TDI with or without GT spec. Worst thing about all these options is that they don't hold the same value as the car come trade in time, value for money depends on how long you are planning on keeping the car for.

I take it you mean the round VW badge on the rear..why would anyone want to lose that the ones I'm talking about are the Scirocco lettering on one side and the other is the model. :)
