Weird noises 2.0 Tsi dsg

Post by candyboytsi210 »

Hey guys, just picked up my new 2.0 TSi DSG on Monday.

Everythings great but a few niggles with it im not sure if the cars meant to be like this as its my first DSG vehicle.

It whines alot as in even when im parked up , i can just here a whine , its really bugging me , and when driving quiet slowly also?

Any ideas

And also a rattle which im sure Volkswagen can locate.

Thanks alot

The 'whine' does not sound right. Does it do it when you select neautral or just in drive?

I picked up my dsg just over a week ago, I haven't noticed and strange noises, I would get it back to the dealer now

hey guys, i've took it back and had everything looked at. the rattle sorted, well the whining noise is pretty hard to come accross, its intermittent.

also i;ve heard knocking noises, and when the engines just turned off, i hear metal like its clapped once , sounds like its just dropped.

the dealer couldnt locate these as the noises obviously didnt occur while they've had the car for a day, i;ve not heard them either so, i guess i gotta wait and see if i hear them again,

hmmmm

The one off metal clap noise may be the solenoid releasing the "P" Parking Finger which then engages a special Parking Lock Gear next to the differential gear of the 6 speed DSG to lock the transmission up if the car rolls. (DSG 7 speed is mechanically operated by the DSG cable onto the gearbox when selecting "P". And won't engage the Locking Gear next to the Differential Gear unless the car physically moves in "P" with no wheel brakes on.)

To confirm the clap is parking solenoid releasing, switch off the engine in "N". It shouldn't do it.

Is there anything you don't know RW1 :D :D

Always wondered what actual "mechanics" happened when I selected "Park" on the DSG. Thought it was the ABS pump forcing the brakes on. Didn't know the transmission locked into the flywheel. You just keep on learning on these forums
