Re: Impact on resale value due to recent Scirocco News

My Scirocco is now seven and a half years old, which is the longest I've kept a modern car for by some margin and I have no intention of getting rid of it - what would replace it? - Can't even buy a new Scirocco as to my eyes the facelift ruined it.

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco

Well I am past 70 and still enjoying my Roc. Just counted the number of cars owned during my driving life and it is only 12 - keep mine a long time! Learnt to drive in an Austin A30 and Ford Anglia 3 speed box. First car I owned was a Moggie minor. I'm just coming up to 53 and my Scirocco should ha...

Re: 3 Year PCP deal - getting out after year 1

Obviously not much help to you now, but for anyone else considering finance options, the one thing with PCPs, lease, contract hire (I do the latter on my 210, metallic, sunroof, lugano black - £363 a month, no deposit) whilst being an easy way to get into a high value car without having capital tied...

Re: no scirocco for me :(

I cannot understand how disorganised VW are with deliveries - due to popular demand is a pretty poor excuse for a company that should have a sophisticated ordering/scheduling/production system - a car takes a set amount of time to build, and they know how many orders they've received prior to yours,...

Re: PDI - How long??

My dealer talked about 7 days for a PDI, I managed to get them down to 2 days which I still thought was slow - both the Vauxhall dealer and Mini dealer PDI'd my previous two cars as they came off the transporter and I took delivery the same day they arrived at the dealer.

Re: New Scirocco Finance Options

I was happy with it and it's a means of car finance that suits me - used it now for the past 13 years - one thing to be aware of though is that you need to be sure you're happy with the 3 year term, one of the downsides is that the penalties for getting out early can be expensive - I only did it onc...

Re: New Scirocco Finance Options

I like contract hire - for my Scirocco, 2.0 TSi, metallic, sun roof and lugano black, 8000 mpa, it's £364 per month (ex VAT) which includes the RFL, no deposit. I have the benefit of being VAT registered which means I can claim half the VAT back. What I like is not having to find any lump sum and th...

Re: Scirocco Valuation

When I get the quotes all they ask is metallic or solid, no particular colour specified. Yes you have to return it in good condition, but I think the average Scirocco owner would keep their car way above the standard they expect - if you look at what they specify, it could actually be what I would t...

Re: Scirocco Valuation

How do you mean 'a deal'? - I'm quite happy with my rentals - zero deposit, £347 a month (36 months) for the car as specced to the right. I don't think it was a 'deal' though.

Re: Scirocco Valuation

You're the third Scirocco owner I've heard of recently who's had trouble selling or has been offered a lowish price. One thing they all have in common ........... they all have Vipers ! That's the trouble with spectacular coloured cars. Not many peoples cup of tea. That's one of the reasons I like ...

A Fox - consider yourself lucky - I got a 3 cylinder Polo when mine last went for a service - probably the worst modern car I have driven.

Re: would you accept it?

No objection to a discreet sticker in the rear window but I wouldn't accept any kind of badge on the body work. Only ever bought from one dealer who tended to add them (a Ford dealer) and I made it quite clear that if there was such a badge on my car I wouldn't be accepting it. Don't think I can hav...

Re: Whats it worth??????

going to try the Recaros to see if she prefers them A Mini JCW was the 'other' car from my final shortlist when I got the Scirocco - I came down on the side of the Scirocco in the end as it would have been the third Mini on our drive. The one I test drove had Recaros, and they were superb - knowing...

Re: Last three letters of your registration...

NBY - which 'coincidentally' are the last three letters of the name of the town in which I live - an even stranger coincidence is the first two letters are TE which are also the first two letters of the name of the town in which I live. Even stranger is the number of people who ask me if it was a co...

Ride height. Local dealerships - 200 miles from home by the time I found a good one.

Re: Design wise how do you rate the sciroccos **EXTERIOR**?

Exterior wise it's fantastic, and in Viper Green a stunning looker - and judging from other people's reactions, I'm far from alone in this view - I've owned some nice looking cars, but none has ever had the reaction the Scirocco gets. Only thing I don't like is the ride height (or more specifically,...

Re: How do you rate the sciroccos **INTERIOR** design?

Don't like the brushed silver trim, hence speccing Lugano Black, and to be honest it's neat and clean enough but nowhere near as special as the outside of the car. The car I test drove had leather and I thought it was awful so went with the cloth. Can't for the life of me see why the magazines rate ...

Re: What size wheels

I've only ever driven a Scirocco on 19's but I faced the same dilemma with my previous Astra - standard 18's (like the demo I drove) or go for the (with the Astra) much better looking 19's. I went for the 19's and to be honest there turned out to be very little difference - nothing at all in what I ...

Re: scirocco drivers

The most I've ever seen in one journey was when I was on my way to collect my Scirocco - a total of 12, 8 of which were white - I was in a loan car from the Contract Hire company at the time, a Ford Ka. Once in the Scirocco and on my way home I didn't see another one. I once ran 'in convoy' with ano...
