Re: Broken turbo on TDI

Yes, a bad month for the bank account. I am just glad it's all sorted, but I must admit i am seriously considering getting rid now. But i wouldn't know what to replace it with!

Re: Broken turbo on TDI

Hi all. The car is now back on the road. It was the turbo. VW went 50/50 on the part costs as a goodwill gesture. Cost around £600 in the end including labour.

Re: Broken turbo on TDI

Not good! Mine is going in for it's 4 year service on Thursday. Fairly unimpressed with the need for the cambelt to be done with only 42,000miles on the clock. Will be even more unimpressed if they find something wrong with the turbo too - but now tempted to ask them to check it. Were there any sym...

Broken turbo on TDI

Hi Guys, its been a while since i posted. I have had the Roc for 4 years now - owned from new. The turbo has just broken @70,000 miles. Not impressed. Very disappointing for a 4 year old car with only 70k on the clock. Full VW service history as well. Apart from the turbo failing, the only thing to ...

Re: Warning light- urgent advice please

I had exactly the same. It was a faulty exaust gas sensor on mine. It was replaced under warranty. If the light doesn't go out that's what it is. Nothing to worry about really. I think this is a common fault on all VW models as there was a dodgy batch of sensors. Mine is a 2009 model too.

Re: Cruise Control - Factory Fit or Retailer Fit?

I had mine dealer retro-fitted - £153 from Leicester VW. All works great - the only problem is they managed to break the auto correcting indicator functionality (the indicators no longer automatically turned off after straightening up the steering wheel) so it had to go back again to fix that. It se...

Re: Rear-ended!

Yup, got all the details. Company van insurance so shouldn't be a problem if there is an issue... Like you say at least me and the missus were fine! ;-) At the end of the day a car is just a car... even if it is gorgeous to look at!

Rear-ended!

It had to happen! I drive round in a crappy ford focus for years and no crashes. I have the Roc for 3 months, and this morning, whilst going north on the M1, a white van crashed up my *rse. :-( Luckily it was a pretty slow impact - no visible damage I can see, but its going into the dealers tomorrow ...

Re: Fuel/Distance Remaining, how low can it go?

I got down to 0 miles remaining and was about 5 miles away from the nearest petrol station. When I filled up it stopped at 53 litres - so there is definitely about 2 or 3 litres left in the tank when the display says 0 miles remaining. Anyone remember that top gear episode when Jezza drove a diesel ...

Re: What MPG are you 140 owners getting ?

No I don't think the supermarket vs branded fuel debate tosh. I personally never use supermarket diesel. I always use branded (BT, shell, texaco) and every 3 or 4 tanks I put in a tank of ultimate or the equivalent. I used to use supermarket diesel in my old car (a focus tdci) and there was a defini...

Re: What MPG are you 140 owners getting ?

Its a 55 litre tank and its about £1.00 a litre at the moment. So its usually just over 50 notes at the moment.

Re: What MPG are you 140 owners getting ?

I got an indicated of about 51mpg average over the first 4000 miles of driving - this is for mixed driving conditions with probably 75% motorway miles. I believe actual mpg is about 10% lower than this (the onboard computer it seems, is generous on calculating mpg), so the figures the other guys hav...

Re: Real World MPGs - 2.0tsi and 2.0 tdi

I currently have an indicated MPG of an average 51mpg for a total of 4000 miles of mixed driving. Pretty happy with the economy so far... and in the past few days I swear the engine has got more responsive. I guess it has loosened up now! Usually I get about 560 miles out of a tankful. (not a scient...

Re: Petrol or Diesel - my calculations... do they seem right?

Just to throw a something extra into the mixing pot.....I foresee the price difference between diesel and petrol at the pumps narrowing in the next few weeks. Currently average prices from petrolprices.com show diesel as only 4p a litre more expensive (99.6p for petrol vs 103.9p) This is due to over...

Re: RCD 510 radio code?

I just called my dealer up. They say they don't keep a paper trail of the code for "security reasons" I can ask for it during my next service. When they hook into the car they can download it and give the code to me. Sounds like I don't really need it anyway, unless I sell the unit due to ...
