Re: Could you live without the Adaptive Chassis Control?
I love the ACC and would definitely spec it if it wasn't standard. Really good if you do a lot of motorway miles. If i change it to sport when on the motorway feels so bumpy. As said earlier it also gives you 2 set ups and i also keep the manual/sport set up for when i want to go for a 'drive'.

ST race
Hi guys, Was on my way back from Gatwick last night and firstly someone nearly missed their junction on the M25 cos they were overtaking me to have a look but also had an orange ST try to race me. Came up to a roundabout on a dual carriageway and he pulled up next me. As we came off the roundabout a...

if the car is registered before they become law then they never need to be on. When i got mine turned off he said that they are only allowed to do it for the next year.

When i couldn't find a garage the other night the miles to empty said 0 by the time i did it took 51.6 litres to fill so i would guess its 50 litres with a reserve.

I found admiral the cheapest and saved about £150 by adding my parents as named drivers. They live at a seperate address and makes no difference to them but saved me maney. Strange but give it a go.

I also like the fact that the commands, time to destination and direction are shown in the mfd as well. It is nice having an integrated version.

Re: Satnav 4 digit post code question
I find the 4 digit system fine. After entering the 4 digits you enter the road. It will predict the roads so after entering say 1 or 2 letters it comes up with all the rads in that area starting with them, You then put in a number and this is also predictive.
I find it works great.

Re: Oil Consumption
Again none in 2500 miles.
Think you'll find it comes down to how the engine is run in. The manuals always state that you 'may' need to top up every 1000miles but thats the worst case. People with 2.0tDis were also topping up every 1000 miles wehereas mine was more like every 10,000.

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
ken, just had a quick look at the manual. Think you could put the player in removable disk mode (main menu then extras then remavable disk). Copy mp3's across then try again. Seems like you can't play these on the player seperately but may work. Alternativelly amazon do 2gb sd cards for about 3 pond...

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
Don't quote me on this but the aux in activate i believe will relate to the mini jack socket on the front of the armrest. If its like an ipod sometimes you have to activate harddrive mode and may be needed to get to work. From posts i've read, an ipod works by sending sound through the mdi and other...

Re: Sat Nav/DVD system Whats in it?
As mentioned the Sat Nav doesn't have full postcode but i don't find that a problem. You put in the first 4 digits, the road, which is quick to find as its only searching roads in that postcode area, and a number, Just used it tonight to find a house and it was pin point accurate saying i was there ...

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
The only way to copy to the hardrive is off a cd/dvd or from the SD reader in the unit. It copys the format as it is on the card. The way i've started to do it is to put folders A-Z in the root then copy the band folders into the appropriate letter. Takes a while to copy from the SD card but haven't...

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
The SD card reader bukit on only reads standard 2gb SD cards but if you use a high capacity one in a reader and plug in through the MDI socket then i haven't had any issues. I'm using a sandisk reader, with a microSD card in an SD adapter at the moment.

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
i'm just using a 4gb sd card and reader at the moment. When re starting it always returns to the folder you are in and continues where you left off. Not had any experience of a hd yet as ahve the sat nav with 20gb hd so am loading that as i go. Unless you have a huge library i'd suggest get a usg fl...

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
If you go into the settings then media. There is option for aux level - low, medium or high. Changing this changes the level of the Ipod but not if you have an sd card or flash drive connected using the USB cable.

Re: Connecting an iPod/iPhone via MDI
From what i've heard the iphone doesn't wotk with the VW kit - has to have rSAP capability. I've done some comparisons and would recommend that you use a portable hd instead of the Ipod. The sound quality is better, it works faster and remembers the folder you are in after you switch off the engine....
