Re: Wheel Refurbishment advice

I've used the Wheel Specialist a couple of times and was very satisfied on both occasions. I'd recommend them.

Re: First time buyer advice

Hi. Check out the for sale section - my mapped 2012 170 is available and, as per Cuprabob's comment, I've just had the cambelt changed. A whole year's mot, new tyres, full service history, one owner. It could be yours :)

Yes, I've had it done. I've not noticed any difference. I got a free key ring, pen and flask

Hi. Just wondering if yours is mapped, as my biggest worry about getting the work done is then having to get the remap done again.

Shout out

Guys. People are generally very quick to point out poor customer service or dodgy individuals, and the internet is rife with negative reviews, so I'm going to buck that trend and call out a recent positive experience I had with one of our forum colleagues. A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of Sc...

Re: Tuning box?Opinion

Mine's a 2012 two 170. I ran a DTUK tuning box while the car was under warranty and was very happy with it. I then had the car remapped and was happier with it. The remap, including a few rolling road runs, took about an hour and a half. Hope that helps.

Took him for a 200 mile blast around the Northumberland/Scotland border. Some really enjoyable roads and hardly anyone else around. Great fun!

Re: Rattle at 1100-1200RPM? 170 GT TDI

It may sound odd, but check your bonnet stay at the bottom end. If it's loose, some insulating tape wrapped around may help. It did the trick for me. Otherwise, check out the various threads on this forum for solutions to other noise sources.

Re: Driving after drinking

Under UK law, the number of units of alcohol must be displayed on the bottle or can or whatever other container a drink comes in. As a rule of thumb, allow 1 hour for initial absorption and 1 hour for your body to process each unit of alcohol. So, a pint of ordinary lager is about 2 units meaning th...

Sawtooth wear - dangerous or not?

Some advice needed, please, guys. My 2012 TDI 170 suffered from the usual sawtooth wear on the rear tyres. I've got 37,500 miles out of the tyres so far and they still have around 4-5mm of tread left (these are the original P7s) so when i just had my front tyres replaced I had the new ones put on th...

Re: Excited

Hi. The thing with the diesel Roc is that you can have your midlife crisis and be sensible at the same time. With a remap and minor suspension work you can have a car that will provide all the excitement that your pacemaker can cope with and still get around 50 mpg. On top of all that, you'll have ...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

I also removed the soundaktor. Is that the sound proofing under the bonnet? If it is don't throw it away it case you sell the car at some point. Nah - it's the little device that pumps a more 'enhanced' sound into the cabin. They're fitted to a number of VW models and make it sound a bit throatier ...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

Sorted out an annoying rattle that was p*ssing me off. It only showed itself between about 1200 and 1800 rpm and it sounded like it was coming from the dashboard at the base of the windscreen. After a lot of searching on this and other forums, I finally tracked it down to the bonnet stay. I wrapped ...

Re: Eibach Pro Kit vs H&R

It's all down to individual perception. I have Eibach pro springs fitted to mine and the car definitely rides firmer, but not harshly. To me, Comfort mode now feels like Normal mode used to, Normal feels like Sport used to and, well, you get the picture. I think the ride height is spot on and the ca...

U got any before and after pics? Yep. Before and after springs. Lower, but still subtle: http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac329/nippy_album/20141109_124325.jpg http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac329/nippy_album/20141115_090737.jpg http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac329/nippy_album/20141109_12...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

Fitted Eibach springs and spacers. The springs have made the already excellent handling even better and the spacers fill the arches just that little bit better. Overall, a nice subtle looking improvement.

I had the same issue with my RNS315 until I changed my phone, now it works perfectly. I'd suggest trying a different phone and see what happens.
