Re: Real World MPGs - 2.0tsi and 2.0 tdi

I've just got 650 miles on the clock on my 2.0 petrol DSG, and its returning 33mpg real, 35 indicated. This is with quite gentle driving due to the running in period. Not as good as the brouchures 37mpg ! Its also running on Vpower. Does this improve after the car has run in? I was hoping to get ne...

Re: Alloy centre cap

You can lever them out with a screwdriver but you run the risk of damaging either the cap or the wheel - easiest to push them out from behind with the wheel off.

Flooding the inlet with CO2 like from a fire extiguisher would probably have killed it, but it would have made a mess in the process

Over the first 4000 miles I've got a calculated average of 31.6mpg with an average error of -7% on the display each fill-up.

Re: Bird poo!

Cheers guys. If I have a go with some polish is it just a case of polishing the area, or will the part I've polished end up looking different to the rest? Do I need to reseal it afterwards with anything other than wax?

Bird poo!

Some baked on bird poo has ended up leaving a mark on the lacquer on my roof. I've tried claying it but it looks like the lacquer itself is damaged. Any advice?

No worries. Sounds like it could do with a couple of other people to give it a go though just to confirm whether it works it not - it definitely does on mine but it could be another bit I've switched somewhere...

Yep, the headlights on mine definitely stay off when moving with this setting - my girlfriend was following me in the Scirocco the other day and I definitely didn't have any headlights in my rear view mirror :?

Re: Dynaudio Pictures

I've got my car in at the dealers tmoz for the 1k checkup and was going to ask about DynAudio upgrade after I selected the standard audio and how much it would be to do it all. I am of course presuming that all the wiring will be their in the first place. I don't think this will be an easy upgrade ...

Assuming by your name you're in Marlow? There's a mobile guy that does a lot of VW/Audi work in the area who is good - I'll try to dig out his details.

Re: I got spanked

...as for the ride and handling, I have never been more disappointed in all my life. I don’t feel any real connection with it, it is so bland and neutral that even when driven at top speed on the Autobahn or round the Nürburgring it still leaves me decidedly cold. ...the Scirocco is just soulless. ...

Re: Grinding noise from engine..

I get a similar noise too. It sounds a lot like a rattle I used to get from the exhaust on my old (-old!) Passat but nowhere near as bad. Eventually figured out that it was the heatshield behind the cat that was slightly loose and used to resonate at certain revs - could be something similar?

Re: Too dark in the back for kids??

Isn' t it possible to have the car detinted if you by a package or a specific model that includes this option? The glass is tinted at the factory, it's not a laminate which is applied retrospectively (I don't think). Personally I think they rear looks better tinted, especially on the light colours ...
