Thieving scum
My sis woke up to find her RCD510 and heater controls missing. Looks like they got in through the boot (rear seats were folded down and parcel shelf removed). The only thing I can think of is she didnt lock the boot, but still why didnt the alarm go off.
makes me sooo angry ....

Re: Thieving scum
Sorry to hear that Anakin, where was this? The alarm should have gone off as the sensors are in the cabin and would have detected the movement, had she deactivated the alarm at all? When you unlock the boot that does deactivate the interior alarm but rearms when the boot is closed again.
Re: Thieving scum
no way
sounds abit odd them taking her heater controls
the boot auto locks with the rest of the car or if you only open the boot on the pliper it locks when you close it so it can't have been shut properly?

The new style heater controls fetch over £100 and are easy to get put so i guess its an easy £100trix wrote:no way![]()

Re: Thieving scum
Not sure she is convinced she locked it, she had to unlock it this morning when she got in. the back seats were folded down. very odd :/
at least it was her RCD510 that got robbed and not my RNS510. Very Pro job no other damage, they obviously had the right tools and knew what they were doing...

Re: Thieving scum
The other thing is she could have left the car open, they got in through front doors, whilst taking the stereo they could have been searching through the boot from the front of the car for other stuff to nick like amp, subs etc etc

Re: Thieving scum
My only thoughts would to be look and see if there is any damage to the locking unit for the boot...
Not good that they stole it.

Sorry to hear that. Are there any force marks at all? I panic over my beaut. It really gets too much attention so I do worry.

Re: Thieving scum
Sorry to hear about this, happened to me in Dec 09. At least there doesn't appear to be much damage other than the missing parts. They did a load of damage to mine whilst parked in London on a "secure" car park. I like the RCD / RNS units and understand why VW have developed them as they can use them accross multiple car lines vw / seat / skoda just by changing the software. However i think they need to react to such thefts as they appear to be quite common. The dealers are aware also as i have seen a number of VW / Audis on forecourts for sale with the units removed. The units need to be integrated.

Re: Thieving scum
this is the problem when VAG is making everything standardise across the range. Just like the old days with those aftermarket rectangular radio sets.
who the hell would want oem heat controls?
