RCD510 Bluetooth

Post by Welchy74 »

Hi, I'm sure this has been covered many times, apologies.
I have a 2010 2.0 TSi with an RCD510 without bluetooth or DAB.
I have an genuine VW MDI lead that last time i connected to my Android phone it wouldnt recognise.
I basically want a quality sounding bluetooth option but dont know which way to go. The info online is all contradicting and confusing.
I've tried the ebay bluetooth dongle that fits into the aux socket and while its ok it needs charging alot and the connection isnt 100%. Ive also tried the USB C (Galaxy S20) to Aux and the phone didnt like it!

My options, as i see them, are :
upgrade to a VW head unit that has a bluetooth already added - expensive
upgrade to an aftermarket Android unit - unknown quality and lacking advice on which to choose
add a VW bluetooth module - unclear advice on which one to get and how to install
aftermarket bluetooth module - unknown quality and reliability
Bluetooth dongle for the MDI lead - unknown reliability and quality

Any advice welcomed
Thanks
