Retrofit Viritual Cockpit
Hey, so i just got my 2009 Scirocco. Since its pre-facelift, i want to modernize and retrofit the crap out of it. I am a teccy and can tackle a challenge or two.
I have been searching if anyone has retrofitted the Viritual cockpit cluster, which can be found in the new passats and golfs. I even found an aftermarket one from Ez-Retrofit (found on aliexpress). However im yet to find any mounted to the Scirocco.
I was wondering if anyone has either mounted one on a Scirocco, or what to look for in terms of compatability. Im totally new to VAG.
Thank you in advance!

Re: Retrofit Viritual Cockpit
I researched this a time ago and no one has done it as far as I could see. The problem is I believe the passat and the golf are different newer platforms. The scirocco is based off the mk6 golf pq35 platform, the golf 7.5 is mqb and I believe the passat is pq46. From googling a while ago its very difficult to get all these to communicate with each other.

Re: Retrofit Viritual Cockpit
So i have done tonnes of research so far on the topic. and there are basicly two paths, both of which i have not confirmed yet, however, i am confident that there is a chance for #2 to work.
1. Original VW AID - Virtual Cockpit.
The AID is made for the MQB platform, and uses functions from an MIB2-type car-nav.
- A way to make the AID mesh with the PQ35 type electronics need to be found, and so far i have not found much on the topic, but i will be dwelling deeper into this.
- A MIB2-type car-nav should be installed, as the AID's UI is based off the NAV's output.
2. Aftermarket Virtual Cockpit ie, EZ-Retrofit
The EZ-Retrofit Virtual Cockpit is not a standalone cluster, but uses the circuit-board of the existing cluster, then outputs to the LCD screen.
- One must identify the different clusters that are availible for the Scirocco, then cross-reference with which clusters EZ-Retrofit provides conversions for.
- Install the cluster (if there is any cross-compatible) and program it. Then convert the cluster to a Virtual Cockpit.
- Profit??
List of EZ-Retrofit's options for VW:
-Golf Mk7
-Golf Mk7.5
-Passat (MQB-Platform)
-Tiguan (Doesn't say, but probably the newer MK2 MQB models)
- CC/Artheon
I will be researching if there is any way to retrofit any of the clusters from the list.

Re: Retrofit Viritual Cockpit
Quick update! A company called "vd Veer Engineering" based in netherlands (i think) has developed what they call a CAN Convertor that converts PQ signals to MQB, so this is a possible route!
They made a video demonstration on FB: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Retrofit Viritual Cockpit
Vd Veer has not yet finished the Cockpit controller yet, but all basic functionality is finished. He says he has to figure out the immobilizer, but after he has accomplished that, the product will be released to the public. He has made tonnes of progress the last month, so we can hope he will be finished soon! *Fingers Crossed*

I saw this YouTube and installed it.
I can display a map, but it's wired.
