On two occasions I have had a odd light rattling sound from the front nearside, only happened at speeds over 50 and on both occasions have tracked it down to a nut off a beech tree that has hit the windscreen and slid down to lodge on a black plastic perforated plate under the edge of the bonnet- best seen with the bonnet up. I assume at the magic speed the air turbulence is sufficient to make the nut jump around. May just save someone from an embarrassing trip to the dealers to complain.
Possible that it is the revenge of the local squirrels for stopping them getting to the bird feeders??

glad im not the only one, when i first heard this noise i thought it was road grit droped from a gritter that was in front on the motaway, didnt worry till this same noise was apearing at odd times and all types of road, tracked it to turning off the heater fan below 3 and booked it in. then i just happened to read your post. checked it out and there they were lurking under the bonnet dried leaves still on the end twiggs blown from the tree near to were the car is parked. a quick phone call to the garage to cancell and alls well. could have been one of those red face moments for sure. cheers .

Yeah I've had this same issue - with me it was ice after clearing the windscreen on a really icy morning in mid winter last year. Also had the odd leaf in there too rattling.

hmmmm, I think I had the same problem the other day

the sound was coming somewhere from the front at the end of the glass.........I thought that something was in the vent sistem

anyway, I dont hear it any more............. the sound was............like glass is crackling....LOL



But I have also noticed, when I go over bumpy road strange noise come from the back of the car.............maybe left back side, not sure....

Anyone had something similary?

It may be worth checking how close the plastic grille cover is to the top of the strut. link.

Ive had mine in the dealers last week after a rattle from the passenger side somewhere. Turns out it was the vanity mirror! It only rattled when I accelerated from about 2000 revs.
