Anyone know how far you can go past the service intervals? I have new Iridium Grey 'roc or order - and am taking possession on 1 September, but my current Rising Blue is warning me '900 mile to next service' - I will probably do 1500 in the intervening time... Do you think I can just ignore (maybe check the oil)? Any opinions or advice - apart from get it serviced!

From a warranty point of view VW give leeway of 30 days or 1,000 miles, so you should be ok.

That's useful Bob, but as I am trading the car - I should care about the warranty!
I was wondering whether the car does anything stupid like saying ' I'm not going any further until you service me' - or similar!

You'll just get a message on the dash when turning the ignition on saying the service is due.
It doesn't stop you actually driving the car in any way at all though.

I appreciate that you don't really care about the warranty but some dealers would try and knock down the trade-in price on receipt of the car because it was overdue a service and thus no longer be in possession of a full service history :-)
